Calathea ornata
Calathea ornata · Marantaceae
How it looks
Calathea ornata is a foliage plant with large dark green oval leaves marked by fine pink and white stripes drawn like feathers. The leaf undersides are purple and the veins run neatly parallel. It stands 12–24 in (30–60 cm) tall and is grown in shade.
Calathea ornata has no known toxicity to cats. It's a safe foliage plant known for its pink-striped leaves.
Guide for parents
The striking leaf patterns easily catch a cat's eye. It's a safe plant, but the delicate leaves get damaged with frequent batting. All calatheas follow similar care: they prefer bright indirect light over direct sun, and leaf tips brown when humidity is low. A shelf spot with indirect light is ideal for both plant and cat.
