Zinnia
Zinnia species · Asteraceae
How it looks
Zinnia bears flowers with a yellow center surrounded by rounded petals in a wide range of colors—red, pink, yellow, orange, white, and more—blooming one per branch tip. The leaves are oval and arranged oppositely, and it grows 12–31 in (30–80 cm) tall, common in gardens.
Zinnia (Zinnia) has no known toxicity to cats. It's a summer flowerbed and garden staple you can feel at ease about.
Guide for parents
Zinnia is safe both as a summer cut flower and as a potted plant. Its lush petals may tempt your cat to play with them, but that won't lead to serious trouble. If your cat tends to eat potting soil, cover the soil with pebbles to block access to fertilizer. As a cut flower, the vase water may contain preservatives, so keep it where your cat can't drink it. This plant needs plenty of sunlight and good airflow.
